FamilySearch Affiliate Access
FamilySearch affiliate status has been approved for Genealogy Labs.
Affiliate access has been successfully verified on the registered network.
Public on-site use at the Genealogy Labs amenity-center research location should be
announced as active only after that location's network has been registered and tested.
What an Affiliate Adds
Affiliate access is not a special FamilySearch search engine and does not create a
separate collection of affiliate-only names. Researchers continue to use FamilySearch
normally. The added benefit is permission to view some historical record series that
remain restricted from ordinary home internet access.
The greatest practical gain is usually in digitized archival records that originated
on microfilm—such as deeds, wills, probate books, court records, church registers,
tax records, and similar sources.
Important: Affiliate status does not unlock every restricted record.
Some collections require a FamilySearch Center. Restricted material in the FamilySearch
Books section is not unlocked by affiliate-library status.
Best Way to Use the Affiliate
1. Research at home firstUse FamilySearch Records, Full Text Search, Catalog, Images, the Research Wiki, and your own AI research tools to identify promising records.
2. Save the exact targetsBookmark or record the FamilySearch link, film number, collection title, place, date range, and record type for promising restricted items.
3. Bring your own device if you wishA patron may use a phone, tablet, or laptop while connected to the approved affiliate network during normal public hours.
4. Sign in with your own accountPatrons use their own free FamilySearch account and go directly to the saved record.

When a Record Is Restricted
Open the record's access information and read the location message. If it lists a
FamilySearch affiliate library, the record should be viewable through
the approved affiliate network. If it lists a FamilySearch Center only,
an affiliate location cannot unlock that record.
